The Age of Radical Transparency

July 12, 2016

Dave Samson, General Manager of Public Affairs at Chevron and president of the Arthur W. Page Society, shares insights on mobile technology and its role in crisis management:

“Twitter is the new Associated Press,” he says. “I can’t think of an incident that we have faced over the last 36-48 months where we weren’t learning of it over social media at the same time we were learning of it through our own internal channels. In some cases, we were seeing it in social channels [first]….

“It’s put us in an age of radical transparency….In this world, a trial starts in the court of public opinion the moment of an incident….Anybody with a smart phone is an expert witness.”

Mobile technology is redefining our communications environment.
